Review: Kidz ZonePerfect Bars

In a perfect world, all moms would always give their kiddos fresh, unprocessed foods as snacks. But, alas, we do not live in a perfect world. And snacks? Well, you do the best you can with what you have. From picky eaters to being able to throw something handy in your bag for when you're on the go, nutrition bars may not be an ideal snack, but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. Which leads us to our review of the new Kidz ZonePerfect bars. Made just for active kids in fun flavors of Caramel Crunch, Yellow Cupcake and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, each bar in the kid-friendly line has 23 vitamins and minerals, five grams of protein and three grams of fiber. Kid or not (hey, ya'll know that you've eaten your kids' snacks before....no shame in that!), that's not too shabby. And the flavors, well, who doesn't love caramel, cupcakes and the combo of peanut butter and chocolate? (If that's you, we might not be able to be friends---sorry!) The Caramel Crunch has that nice salty and sweet thing going on, Yellow Cupcake actually tastes like yellow cake, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip is a touch waxy, but does taste like peanuts mixed in with chocolate chips. Caramel Crunch probably tastes the most real of all of them---the other two have that slightly chalky protein-bar feel. But all of them are not overly sweet, which is nice. While the ingredient list is dang long, each one of these bars has about 150 calories, 6 grams of fat and 8 grams of sugar. Again, unprocessed foods are the ideal, but when you just need something on the go, it's not a bad option for kids---or moms, really. And it's certainly far, far better than a candy bar. Do you give your kids nutrition bars? What are a few of your favorite on-the-go snacks? ---Jenn
